Join Angela Ferraro-Fanning of Axe and Root Homestead and Kirsten Lie-Nielsen of Hostile Valley Living for an On Site Permaculture Class at Hostile Valley Farm!
Angela is the author of The Sustainable Homestead, the Little Homesteader series, The Harvest Table Cookbook, and the cohost of the HOMESTeducation Podcast. Â In this class she will share her extenstive permaculture knowledge, sharing how to evalute your homestead for effective permaculture set ups, holistic pest management, no-till gardening and much more. Â
Kirsten is the author of So You Want to Be a Modern Homesteader? and a freelance writer on the homesteading lifestyle. Â She and her husband moved to Hostile Valley Farm in 2016 and restored the farm from a state of overgrowth and abandonment. Â She uses her goats, sheep, and pigs for land management and will take you on a tour of the farm, showcasing how these animals can be used in harmony with nature to create a beautiful environment.
Class includes a farm fresh lunch and other refreshments.Â
Attendees will recieve a copy of Angela's new book, The Sustainable Homestead.
Curious about where to stay? Â We are located 30 minutes from the coastal towns of Belfast, Camden, and Rockland, and 20 minutes from Waterville and Augusta. Please remember that Hostile Valley Farm is a private residence. Â Parking areas will be noted, and please do not approach the animals without supervision. Â Be aware all fences may be "live" unless otherwise specified. Â Bug spray will be provided -- long pants are recommended for the farm tour.
